Help us spread the word!
A beautifully made short film from Yasmin, i would not have expected less from her!
Am really glad that most ppl who contributed to the comments agree that Racism is a NO NO for the younger generation. I think racism was a bigger issue in the older generation.. namely baby boomers and generation x, i think that’s due to unfair policies (they were perceived as unfair anyway). However, deep down, as human beings, despite the racist comments our grandparents and parents made privately (in some cases, even our peers, who are gen y), when one is in need of help (regardless of race), everyone is always willing to extend their helping hands. Why? because we are human! that is one race..
I especially like the short films that Yasmin made about “our children are colour blind, why don’t we keep it that way” I agree with the message 100%
To be a prosperous and successful nation, we need to look beyond colours. Make policies that are “colour blind”. I know that some policies are made to help the generalised less fortunate “race”, however, when policies are made race-based, other races will feel like they were being marginalised. For example, instead of, say, giving away RM100mil for a certain race, maybe goverment should have projects that are base on income, age or regions.
In other words, I believe that we should stop emphasising race. Get rid of those discriminative survey and employment forms that require ppl to reveal their “race”. I often just leave them blank, as I am me, a person, and I should not be defined by my skin colour.
